ShedGuide Terms of Use

Effective date: August 27, 2026

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and ShedGuide ("ShedGuide," "we," "us," or "our") governing the ShedGuide mobile application, websites, maps, predictions, and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, accepting these Terms, or using the Service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter this agreement. You must provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and promptly notify us of unauthorized account use. You are responsible for activity through your account. Accounts and access grants are personal and non-transferable. You may use ShedGuide on your personal supported devices, but you may not share, sell, lend, or transfer your account or credentials to another person.

2. Required contributor license

The Service is a contributor-supported product. Except for a clearly labeled synthetic demonstration, use requires acceptance of the current ShedGuide Contributor License. Normalized shed points that you import or log are licensed to the restricted training corpus under that agreement. Private saved areas, searches, map views, notes, and offline downloads are not model contributions.

You may contribute only information you have the right to provide. You may not submit fabricated, copied, unlawfully obtained, intentionally misclassified, or misleading points.

3. Rookie, Standard, and Pro access

  • Rookie Pass. An eligible zero-point member who accepts the contributor license receives up to 90 days of access with one active prediction area in one state. The area is locked against deletion for 365 days from creation. One accepted mule-deer or elk shed unlocks eligibility to purchase paid access. After expiration with no accepted shed, results and personal data remain read-only, while export, deletion, and support remain available.
  • Standard. Standard provides the shared 10-meter composite prediction for purchased states, up to 10 active prediction areas across the account, applicable offline limits, shed import and logging, and basic counts.
  • Pro. Pro uses the same shared prediction quality as Standard and includes up to 25 active prediction areas across the account, plus 3D terrain, selected terrain-driver layers, and advanced layer controls. Pro does not receive a more accurate prediction. Each prediction area is locked against deletion for 365 days after creation. After that lock expires, deleting the area releases its active slot.

The prediction-area lock applies to replacing individual areas and does not prevent you from using the separate in-app account-deletion process.

Current features, prices, limits, and supported states appear in the app. We may improve, replace, or discontinue features while preserving any rights required by law.

4. Subscriptions and state selection

Paid access is sold as an annual auto-renewing subscription through Apple's App Store. Products specify Standard or Pro and one through five state slots. You select the actual states after purchase.

Every selected state uses the same tier. States lock for the subscription term, with one support correction permitted within seven days after the original selection. Adding state slots or upgrading to Pro may take effect immediately through the App Store. Removing states or downgrading takes effect at renewal. Prices, renewal, cancellation, refunds, taxes, and payment processing are governed by the App Store and the Subscription Terms presented at purchase.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through your Apple account settings. Deleting ShedGuide does not cancel a subscription.

5. Contributor rewards

Rewards are evaluated separately for each supported state based on accepted, unique shed points in that state and the verified acceptance time.

  • Founding Contributor Pro: the first five qualifying accounts in each state to reach 250 accepted unique points in that state may receive lifetime Pro for that state.
  • Contributor Standard: the first 25 qualifying non-founding accounts in each state to reach 100 accepted unique points in that state may receive one year of Standard for that state.

An account that later qualifies for an available Founding Contributor Pro position may move from Contributor Standard, allowing the released Standard position to pass to the next verified account. Duplicate, fabricated, copied, misclassified, or geographically invalid points do not count.

Rewards are non-transferable, have no cash value, do not stack with active paid multi-state access, and are subject to fair-use limits. Contributor Standard permits up to 10 active prediction areas during its one-year grant. Founding Contributor Pro permits up to 25 active prediction areas. The same 365-day deletion lock applies. A state reward returns as fallback after paid access expires. "Lifetime" means the commercial lifetime of the ShedGuide Service, not the life of the recipient or operator. We may revoke a reward obtained through fraud, abuse, or material breach.

6. Predictions and outdoor safety

Terrain Match Percentile and Shed Terrain Priority are decision-support tools, not calibrated probabilities, navigation directions, guarantees, or representations that a shed exists. Conditions change, data contain limitations, and no model can account for every biological, weather, access, land-use, legal, or human factor.

You are solely responsible for checking land ownership, access rules, closures, seasons, wildlife regulations, weather, avalanche and wildfire hazards, terrain, personal fitness, communications, emergency plans, and all applicable laws. The Service does not provide parcel ownership, legal access advice, full navigation, or emergency services. Never trespass or rely on ShedGuide as your sole map, navigation, or safety tool.

7. Acceptable use

You may not:

  • access another person's account, coordinates, areas, or artifacts;
  • scrape, probe, reverse engineer, extract, redistribute, resell, or publish prediction tiles, driver layers, model outputs, or restricted data except as permitted by law;
  • bypass entitlements, state locks, rate limits, authentication, device integrity, or technical controls;
  • use the Service to trespass, harass, endanger wildlife or people, or violate law;
  • upload malware or interfere with the Service; or
  • use automated systems to create excessive load or build a competing location or prediction dataset.

We may investigate violations and suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to protect members, sensitive locations, the Service, or our rights.

8. Ownership and license to you

ShedGuide and its licensors own the Service, software, branding, designs, models, derived terrain data, prediction surfaces, and documentation. Subject to these Terms and your entitlements, we grant you a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for lawful, noncommercial shed-hunting purposes.

You retain ownership of your private notes and other content, subject to the separate Contributor License for contributed shed information. You grant us the limited rights needed to host, process, display, secure, export, and delete your operational account content at your direction.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on Apple, Google, Mapbox, RevenueCat, Expo, and other providers. Their terms and privacy practices may apply. Map and terrain information may include third-party data and attribution. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, fraud, security risk, unlawful conduct, nonpayment, or misuse. Account deletion and termination are governed by the Privacy Policy and Contributor License. Provisions that by their nature should survive—including licenses, ownership, disclaimers, limits of liability, and dispute terms—survive termination.

11. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." SHEDGUIDE DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AVAILABILITY, AND THAT RESULTS WILL BE SAFE, COMPLETE, OR ERROR-FREE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN DISCLAIMERS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHEDGUIDE AND ITS OWNERS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, SERVICE PROVIDERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOST PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL; OR PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE, TRESPASS, FINES, OR OUTDOOR LOSSES ARISING FROM THE SERVICE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID SHEDGUIDE THROUGH THE APP STORE DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM OR (B) US $100. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ShedGuide and its affiliates from claims, losses, and expenses arising from your unlawful conduct, your contributed content, trespass, violation of third-party rights, or material breach of these Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Wyoming law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where consumer law requires otherwise. Before filing a claim, you and ShedGuide agree to send written notice and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days. Unless applicable law requires another forum, exclusive jurisdiction and venue will lie in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be presented in the Service or by other reasonable notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. If a change requires consent, we will request it.

16. Apple terms

Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the extent these Terms provide usage rules less restrictive than the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, Apple's rules control. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce the applicable provisions against you.
